Description

No paste, no gel
The Free-Cap is a new EEG cap, which uses water (saline) as conductive. The electrodes are mounted into a holder together with a special sponge-like material, which slowly releases moisture to the scalp. This leads to excellent impedances in a short time without much scratching and painful procedures.
The electrodes have an optimal fit and can easily be repositioned. A rubber-string or electrode holder is broken? No problem: With the Free-Cap you can quickly replace individual parts.

Compatibility
Most of our clients use the Free-Cap for Neurofeedback and QEEG (Quantitative EEG). It can also be combined with ISF (Mark Smith) and ILF (Othmer, Neuro-Amp).
The Free-Cap has room for 1-19 electrodes as well as ear clips or mastoid electrodes. When buying this Free-Cap set you also get 25-pin plugs, that are compatible with for example Discovery Brainmaster or Q20.
With the appropriate adapters, you can use the Free-Cap together with basically every manufacturer out there.

Tips for use:

We recommend our wooden cotton swabs and 1-Step-Abrasive or Nuprep for greasy skin; A small amount is enough to make the skin more conductive
In order to improve impedance values, it is sufficient to spray some salt water on the electrode with a spray bottle

I hope you had a booth at ISNR---neurofeedback practitioners need to know about this cap, esp those doing whole head assessments and 19 chan surface and Loreta.

So much quicker to use, easy to get good low impedances, much more comfortable for the patient.
Also, I've a few women patients who only come at the end of the day, because my regular cap messes up their hair. Yours--negligible inconvenience.. Not a lot of folks to give me feedback yet, but I can see the cap is more comfortable to wear as well.

Also an advantage with 4 channels or less. I've a DBA so I can use your full cap version with my Atlantis. Though I might like to purchase the net and several individual electrodes. I'll keep you posted as more people try it. I especially like being able to lift up the electrode, touch w NuPrep on the scalp, put the electrode back, and impedance is down--with no discomfort to the patient.

I've one patient who is the most difficult patient in 36 years to hook up. I'm looking forward to her coming in.

Like all things that combine simplicity of concept with a touch of genius, this is a breakthrough that will enhance the use of EEG especially in psychiatry were messing up the hair is often met with negative patient-related attitude and hence unwillingness for follow up EEG's. I bought a 4-channel FreeCap from Thomas Feiner at ISNR and tried it out on myself today. To tell the truth I was a bit skeptical when I bought it but "banked" on Thomas' reputation. Well, I am not disappointed. The cap produced beautifully clean EEG that you could tell came from low impedance (5-8 Kohms) and DC around 1 to 3. I was using the Discovery amp but will now also buy an adapter so I can use it with the Atlantis amp.

A great invention...I have the highest praise for the Free-Cap. Once you use it, I can't imagine that you would ever want to go back to the paste method. In my experience, connectivity is superior, even with ISF. I have found it to be successful with all types of hair.
